Job Description

  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for reagents, consumables, equipment, and services.
  • Ensure timely procurement of materials while maintaining cost efficiency and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships, contracts, and performance monitoring.
  • Compare quotations, prepare purchase orders (POs), and process approvals.

Inventory & Store Management

  • Oversee storage, handling, and distribution of materials in central and unit-level stores.
  • Implement scientific inventory control techniques to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
  • Maintain accurate records of inward/outward material movement.
  • Ensure compliance with NABL and other regulatory norms for material storage (e.g., cold chain for reagents).
  • Conduct periodic stock verification and reconciliation with accounts.

Process & Compliance

  • Implement SOPs for procurement and storage activities.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure quality checks of materials received.
  • Ensure proper documentation of purchase, GRN (Goods Receipt Note), issue slips, and vendor invoices.
  • Comply with statutory and audit requirements related to procurement and stores.

Cost & Efficiency Control

  • Monitor consumption patterns and suggest cost-optimization measures.
  • Forecast material requirements in coordination with laboratory and operations teams.
  • Implement vendor credit terms and manage payment cycles efficiently.

Team Management

  • Supervise storekeepers and purchase assistants across different units.
  • Train and develop team members for better efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure inter-departmental coordination (Laboratory, Accounts, Operations).

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic laboratory consumables, reagents, and equipment.
  • Good understanding of inventory management systems and ERP software.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability for cost control.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Compliance-oriented with knowledge of healthcare/diagnostic industry standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Supply Chain, or relevant field.
  • 23 years of experience in purchase and store management (preferably in healthcare/diagnostics/pharma industry).
  • Hands-on experience in purchase & inventory systems.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary: 20K to 30K / Month
