Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Procurement:

    • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved quality, and process optimization in the procurement process.
    • Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics.
  2. Supplier Management:

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
    • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure the best value for the company.
    • Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
  3. Materials Management:

    • Oversee the procurement of engineering goods, including hydraulic items, various types of steels, cutting tools, and heating elements.
    • Ensure the availability of materials to meet production schedules without incurring unnecessary costs or inventory buildup.
    • Collaborate with the production and engineering departments to understand material requirements and specifications.
  4. Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Set clear objectives, provide guidance, and conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure team members are aligned with departmental goals.
  5. Process Optimization:

    • Continuously evaluate and improve purchasing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
    • Implement best practices in procurement, including the use of technology and automation where applicable.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
  6. Budget and Cost Management:

    • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
    • Monitor and control costs associated with procurement activities, including material costs, transportation, and storage.
    • Provide regular reports to the Finance Head and Plant Head on procurement performance, cost savings, and budget adherence.
  7. Risk Management:

    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain, including supplier reliability, market volatility, and geopolitical factors.
    • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
  8. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
    • Coordinate with the Plant Head and other department heads to align procurement activities with production schedules and operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field). A Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration is a plus.
  • Experience:

    10 to 15 years of experience in the Purchase Department within an Engineering Goods Manufacturing Industry.
  • Technical Skills:

    Must be well-versed in hydraulic items, all kinds of steels, cutting tools, and heating elements.
  • Leadership Skills:

    Proven ability to lead a team, manage cross-functional relationships, and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Communication:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate effectively and present to senior management.
  • Analytical Skills:

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Software Proficiency:

    Familiarity with procurement software, ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
