Job Description

Department: R&D Mechanical

Position Overview:

  • Design of Simple & Complex Aerospace Propulsion Systems (APS):
    Good in basics, moderate & advanced level of Aerodynamics, Fluid Mechanics (Compressible as well as Incompressible domain), Solid Mechanics (Statics & Dynamics), Machine design (Incl. Fastener Mechanics), Thin walled structures & propeller design, Theory of Elasticity & Plasticity, SoM (Basic & Advanced), Material Mechanics (Metals & Composites), Generation of Free body Diagram (FBD), Thermal & Fluid Sciences, Vibrations & other basic Engineering subjects of the related domain.
  • Design of Complex Mechanical Systems:
    Should be good in designing complex mechanical aspects of Propulsion Systems. Basic understanding of design & how things work. Should be able to understand how forces & torques are transmitted from one part/Sub assembly to another. Should be able to correlate Mechanical & electro-mechanical sub-systems specifically for efficiency w.r.t correlation of data from testing & trials of various Sub systems of Propulsion Systems such as ESC, Motor, Engine, Propellers, Engine starter & Throttle control Units (ECU), Power Distribution & Management Unit (PDU) and other associated units.
  • Develop Codes & Algorithms:
    Develop codes & algorithms to standardise design of various aerospace propulsion elements, along with various performance stability & aerodynamics criteria’s and calculations. (Preferably in Python, Matlab & MS Excel).
  • Adaptable & Open to New Learnings:
    Should be adaptable & open to new domain learnings in terms of understanding & visualising how things interact, specifically in Aerodynamics & Flight Mechanics domain.
  • Testing & Validation:
    Doing testing & validation of various combinations of ESCs, Motors or Engines (incl. of ECUs, PDUs & other Electromechanical Auxiliary units) & Propellers and validating through Inferences & Conclusions with reasoning.
  • Quality and Reliability:
    Champion the application of GD&T and tolerance stack-up to ensure consistent quality across design iterations and manufacturing batches. Uphold the highest standards of quality throughout the design process and investigate and resolve any quality issues arising from design or manufacturing processes.
  • Data Science & Machine Learning:
    Doing testing & validation of various combinations of ESCs, Motors or Engines (incl. of ECUs, PDUs & other Electro-mechanical Auxiliary units) & Propellers using DS & ML techniques preferably using Python & Matlab.
  • Design & Drawing Management:
    Manage the lifecycle of product designs from ideation to realisation. Make design & drawing documentation to ensure comprehensive 3D CAD design, documentation, including specifications and Product/Part/Sub modules design reports, with adherence to GD&T standards & Tolerance Stacking in drawings.
  • Sketching, CAD & Surface Modelling:
    Basic & advanced understanding of how Sketching, CAD & Surface modelling is done.
  • Component Selection and Manufacturing/Sourcing:
    Select appropriate hardware components to ensure designs are producible and scalable. Provide guidance on tooling, fabrication methods and assembly (Mainly Light metals, CFRP , Composites , etc.). Dive deep into tolerance stack-ups to guarantee design robustness and assist in sourcing and evaluating suppliers and vendors for specialized mechanical components.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain detailed documentation of CAD design, drawings, reports and test results to facilitate troubleshooting and future development.
  • Cross Functional Team:
    Interact with cross functional teams to understand the respective designs details.
