Job Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing environmental projects from inception to completion. He must oversee project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and coordination of project teams to ensure successful project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements. Coordinate with stakeholders to define project requirements, goals, and success criteria.
- Develop project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with finance and accounting teams. Monitor project expenditures, track budget performance, and implement cost control measures to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints.
- Identify project resource needs and allocate personnel, equipment, and materials accordingly. Coordinate with department managers and team leads to ensure adequate resources are available to support project activities.
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, including environmental consultants, engineers, technicians, and subcontractors. Foster a collaborative team environment, set clear expectations, and empower team members to achieve project goals.
- Identify potential project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project outcomes. Proactively assess project risks, monitor risk triggers, and implement contingency plans as needed to ensure project success.
- Develop project schedules and timelines, identify critical path activities, and monitor project progress against milestones. Proactively identify schedule variances and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle. Implement appropriate safety measures, conduct risk assessments, and promote environmentally sustainable practices in project execution.
Qualifications And Experiences
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering degree with a focus on environmental studies or project management provides a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of environmental projects.
- Previous experience in project coordination, project management support, or related roles is highly desirable. Experience working on environmental projects or within the environmental consulting industry is particularly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities and tasks among multidisciplinary project teams, including environmental consultants, engineers, scientists, and subcontractors. Experience fostering collaboration, facilitating communication, and resolving conflicts within project teams is beneficial.
- Experience in monitoring project budgets, tracking expenses, and allocating resources effectively. Familiarity with financial reporting, budget analysis, and cost control measures to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints.
- Understanding environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance standards relevant to the projects being undertaken.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify project risks, issues, and dependencies, and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing project requirements, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
