Position Title:

Position Overview

Project Manager – Mechanical

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1) Project Planning & Strategy

  • Translate project scope into detailed

    mechanical execution plans

    , schedules (L3/L4), and budgets.
  • Define resource plans (manpower, equipment, tools, consumables) and key milestones.
  • Develop risk registers and

    mitigation strategies

    for safety, schedule, cost, and quality.

2) Delegation, Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Delegate responsibilities

    across site engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors; set clear deliverables and KPIs.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and coach

    team members to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews; provide

    constructive feedback

    and skill-upgradation opportunities.

3) Execution & Site Coordination

  • Lead day-to-day site activities for

    mechanical erection, installation, alignment, and commissioning

    (e.g., crushers, conveyors, pumps, pipelines, batching plants, heavy earthmoving equipment interfaces).
  • Ensure works are executed per

    approved drawings, QAP/ITPs, method statements, and SOPs

    .
  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams for seamless interfaces.

4) Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Implement mechanical

    quality control

    procedures; enforce adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Champion

    HSE

    : conduct toolbox talks, permit-to-work, LOTO, JSA, and incident investigations; drive zero-harm culture.
  • Ensure legal and statutory compliance (e.g., lifting gear certifications, pressure vessel norms where applicable).

5) Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Maintain professional communication with

    clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors

    ; resolve issues proactively.
  • Participate in progress/review meetings; present

    accurate status

    on schedule, cost, risks, and mitigations.
  • Manage expectations and change requests through proper documentation and approvals.

6) Procurement, Materials & Vendor Management

  • Forecast material needs;

    coordinate with procurement

    for RFQs, techno-commercial evaluations, and PO finalization.
  • Track vendor/subcontractor performance (delivery, quality, service);

    negotiate

    for best value and on-time delivery.
  • Oversee site

    inventory control

    —spares, consumables, and critical items; minimize wastage and stockouts.

7) Operations, Maintenance & Reliability (as applicable)

  • Plan and oversee

    pre-commissioning/commissioning

    , SATs, and handover to operations.
  • Establish preventive and predictive

    maintenance regimes

    (CMMS, condition monitoring, lubrication, critical spares).
  • Monitor equipment

    uptime, MTBF/MTTR

    , and implement reliability improvements.

8) Commercials, Cost Control & Reporting

  • Track

    budget vs. actuals

    , productivity indices, and cost-saving opportunities; drive profitability.
  • Certify measurements, verify

    vendor/subcontractor bills

    , and support client billing/claims.
  • Generate and present

    MIS reports

    (progress, S-curve, look-aheads, DPR/WPR/MPR) to senior management.

9) Continuous Improvement & Business Excellence

  • Analyze execution data to

    optimize methods

    , improve cycle times, and reduce rework.
  • Standardize

    best practices, SOPs, checklists, and lessons learned

    across projects.
  • Ensure sites are

    orderly and professional

    —good housekeeping, clear signage, and compliant laydowns.

10) Policy Adherence & Culture

  • Ensure strict adherence to company

    policies, processes, and code of conduct

    .
  • Foster a

    collaborative, respectful, and customer-centric

    culture aligned to APS values.

Required Technical Skills

  • Mechanical erection & alignment (rotating equipment, conveyors, crushers, pumps, pipelines, tanks/structures).
  • Reading/interpretation of

    GAs, fabrication drawings, P&IDs

    , and OEM manuals.
  • Knowledge of

    QA/QC

    , welding and NDT basics, grouting, leveling, tolerance checks.
  • Familiarity with

    HSE systems

    , permit-to-work, lifting plans, LOTO, JSA.
  • Proficiency in MS Project/Primavera (preferred), MS Excel/PowerPoint, and

    CMMS

    tools.

Work Conditions
