Project Manager LIDAR/GIS

Job Description

Role & responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables for LiDAR and GIS projects. Develop and manage detailed project plans, ensuring milestone tracking and adherence to deadlines. Coordinate with internal teams (LiDAR processing, GIS analysts, QA/QC, software, and support) for smooth execution. Manage and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and resource allocation. Technical & Process Oversight Understand client specifications related to LiDAR classification, feature extraction, topology correction, and GIS data accuracy. Ensure adherence to data quality standards for outputs such as poles, stays, catenaries, topologies, and spatial accuracy. Validate final deliverables before release and ensure project handovers to QA or release teams are complete. Client & Stakeholder Communication Act as the primary point of contact for clients during project execution. Provide regular updates through emails, dashboards, and project calls. Handle client queries, feedback, escalations, and change requests efficiently. Team Leadership & Collaboration Guide and support team leads (LiDAR, GIS, QA) on daily targets and quality standards. Monitor team productivity, performance, and training needs. Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture. Reporting & Documentation Maintain project dashboards, trackers, and documentation. Submit regular status reports to senior management and flag delays or issues early. Contribute to process improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Preferred candidate profile Bachelor's or Masters in Geomatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Civil Engineering, or related fields. Experience: 6–8 years of experience in LiDAR and GIS project execution, with at least 2 years in a project management or team lead role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in LiDAR processing tools (e.g., TerraScan, Global Mapper, or client-specific tools) Knowledge of GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data formats Familiarity with classification codes, topology rules, and mapping standards Soft Skills: Strong communication and coordination skills Problem-solving and decision-making ability Proactive and detail-oriented approach Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work under pressure
