Purpose/Objective


    The Production Process Safety Executive - Copper is responsible for ensuring operational safety, compliance, and efficiency. This role involves overseeing the safety aspects of production processes, implementing improvements, managing safety data, and driving technological advancements in safety measures. The executive will work closely with both production and safety departments to ensure all activities align with regulatory standards and company safety policies.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Production Process Safety Executive – Copper Planning and Execution: - Develop and execute safety plans specific to production processes in the copper mining environment. - Coordinate with production teams to integrate safety measures into daily operations. - Oversee the implementation of safety protocols during all phases of production. - Monitor execution against safety plans to identify deviations and take corrective actions. Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement: - Continually assess safety processes for efficiency and effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement. - Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance safety in production processes. - Collaborate with engineering teams to design and refine safety features in equipment and processes. - Analyze accident and incident reports to develop strategies to prevent future occurrences. Quality Assurance and Control: - Ensure that all safety measures meet or exceed quality standards and compliance requirements. - Conduct regular quality checks and audits on safety equipment and systems. - Oversee quality control of safety training programs and materials. - Maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections, audits, and corrective actions. Equipment Monitoring and Troubleshooting: - Regularly inspect safety equipment and systems to ensure optimal operation. - Troubleshoot safety equipment issues, facilitating quick resolutions to minimize downtime. - Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule repairs and routine maintenance of safety-critical equipment. - Implement proactive maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failures. HSE and Regulatory Compliance: - Monitor and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to copper mining. - Prepare for and manage audits by regulatory bodies. - Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and implement necessary adjustments. - Develop and oversee the training of staff on new regulatory requirements and safety practices. Reporting and Data Analytics: - Collect and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement. - Generate regular reports on safety performance, incidents, and audits. - Utilize data analytics to drive decisions related to safety and compliance. - Present safety metrics and improvement plans to senior management and stakeholders. Digitisation and Tech Adoption: - Lead the integration of digital technologies into safety management processes. - Evaluate new technologies for potential adoption to improve safety outcomes. - Collaborate with IT and tech providers to customize solutions for production safety needs. - Drive the adoption of innovative safety management tools and platforms. Key Stakeholders - Internal: - HSE Department - Operations Team - Maintenance Team - Quality Assurance Team - Finance Department Key Stakeholders - External: - Local Fire Authorities - Regulatory Bodies - Equipment Vendors/Suppliers - Emergency Response Teams

Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: Bachelor's degree (from recognized institutes) in Fire Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Work Experience (Range of years): 8-10 years of progressive experience in fire safety management in the Metal Copper industry. Certifications: Advanced certifications in fire safety management, industrial safety, and emergency response are highly desirable. Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
