Job Overview

Balaji Digital Designs is looking for a hands-on Production Manager to control day-to-day shop floor operations across offset and digital printing. The role requires direct involvement in production planning, manpower handling, quality control, and delivery adherence.

This position is execution-focused. The Production Manager is expected to be present on the shop floor, manage operators and machines, reduce wastage, and ensure timely completion of jobs as per specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Operations

• Plan and execute daily production schedules for offset and digital jobs
• Allocate jobs to machines based on priority, capacity, and deadlines
• Ensure smooth coordination between pre-press, press, and post-press
• Monitor machine performance, breakdowns, and downtime
• Coordinate preventive maintenance with technicians

Manpower & Shift Management

• Supervise machine operators, helpers, and finishing staff
• Plan shifts, overtime, and manpower allocation
• Enforce discipline, punctuality, and productivity on the shop floor
• Train operators to improve efficiency and reduce errors

Quality Control

• Ensure print quality, colour accuracy, registration, and finishing standards
• Reduce reprints, rejections, and customer complaints
• Conduct quality checks at critical production stages

Wastage & Cost Control

• Monitor paper, ink, plates, and consumables usage
• Control make-ready wastage and production losses
• Identify reasons for excess wastage and take corrective action
• Maintain daily records of production output and wastage

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with the General Manager / Management on job priorities
• Update job status and flag potential delays in advance
• Prepare daily production and shift reports
• Support management during peak workload periods

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3–7 years of hands-on experience in offset and/or digital printing
• Strong knowledge of printing workflows, paper types, inks, and finishing
• Experience handling production teams and shift-based work
• Ability to read and understand job cards and production specifications
• Experience working under tight delivery timelines

• Good communication skills with operators and supervisors
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple jobs simultaneously

Work Conditions
