About the Role

We are looking for a Product Manager who understands the India payments ecosystem deeply and can build scalable merchant first payment experiences. The ideal candidate has worked on products such as payment gateways, digital commerce, POS/payments terminals, UPI, settlement/reconciliation, tokenization, merchant on boarding. This role requires strong business understanding, regulatory awareness (RBI, PCI, compliance), and the ability to work with engineering, design, sales, and merchant success teams to deliver measurable product outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership

- Own product road map, prioritisation, and lifecycle from concept build launch scale.

- Translate business, regulatory, and customer requirements into detailed Product Requirement Documents, BRDs, user journeys, and acceptance criteria.

- Define and track product success metrics (conversion, uptime, adoption, retention, merchant satisfaction).

Market & Customer Insights

- Conduct competitive bench marking and market research on new payment rails, features & industry trends (UPI, cards, tokenization, netbanking, subscription, BNPL, settlements etc.).

- Engage with key merchants, clients, and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, validate hypotheses, and refine road map.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Engineering, design, Compliance, Operations, Risk, and Merchant Success teams to deliver product releases and external partners (networks like Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, and regulators like RBI/NPCI).

- Partner with Sales & Marketing teams to enable client positioning, pricing, and go-to-market roll outs.

Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

- Ensure the product aligns with

  • RBI PA/PG Guidelines,
  • Tokenization (network token standards),
  • PCI-DSS / PCI-PTS compliance
  • Data privacy and local storage mandates

Performance and Scale

- Monitor production performance, merchant experience, drop-offs, funnel conversion delays, transaction success rates, and up time.

- Drive continuous improvements in reliability, checkout performance, fraud controls, and operational automation.

Key Requirements:

Educational Qualification:

- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience:

- 8–10 years working in Fintech, Payments, Banking-tech, Merchant Services, Instore, eCommerce checkout or platform engineering.

- Experience defining requirements in APIs, workflows, and tech detail (ability to converse confidently with engineering teams).

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

- Hands-on working knowledge of:

  • Card acquiring – card present and card not present flows
  • UPI (Collect, Intent, Auto pay, UDIR, CC on UPI), PoS solutions
  • Payment gateway flows and terminal processing
  • Merchant on boarding, KYC/ KYB/ underwriting
  • Settlements/reconciliation/risk/fraud management
  • Strong analytical skills
