Procurement Manager

Role & responsibilities

1. Procurement & Sourcing

• Identify, develop, and manage a reliable supplier base including farmers, commission agents, and traders.
  
• Procure red chilli (various grades and varieties) as per company requirements.
  
• Negotiate procurement terms, including price, credit, and delivery.
  
• Monitor daily mandi operations and price fluctuations in Guntur and nearby regions.
  

2. Quality Assurance

• Ensure procurement of chilli that meets company quality parameters (color, pungency, moisture, etc.).
  
• Coordinate with quality control teams for grading and sorting.
  
• Implement strict checks to minimize rejection and wastage.
  

3. Market & Price Intelligence

• Track market trends, crop reports, arrivals, and demandsupply patterns.
  
• Maintain real-time data of chilli arrivals, stock positions, and pricing.
  
• Forecast procurement needs in line with seasonal fluctuations.
  

4. Logistics & Inventory

• Coordinate with logistics teams for timely transportation from mandi to warehouses/factories.
  
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability.
  
• Work closely with warehouse and supply chain teams for smooth inward handling.
  

5. Vendor & Farmer Relations

• Build and sustain strong relationships with farmers, agents, and suppliers in the Guntur chilli belt.
  
• Ensure timely payments and maintain transparent dealings.
  
• Develop long-term sourcing partnerships with key stakeholders.
  

6. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, and statutory requirements.
  
• Maintain accurate purchase records, agreements, and supplier performance data.
  
• Support audits and internal controls related to procurement.
  

Preferred candidate profile

• Education:

  Graduate / Postgraduate in Agriculture, Supply Chain, or Business Management (preferred).

• Experience:

  Minimum 510 years in procurement, with at least 3+ years in spices/commodities procurement (preferably red chilli in Guntur region).

• Skills Required:

• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  
• Good understanding of chilli varieties, mandi functioning, and crop cycles
  
• Analytical mindset with knowledge of price trends and market intelligence
  
• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/SAP, and reporting tools
  
• Excellent communication in Telugu, Hindi, and English
