Procurement Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Identify, source, and procure materials, consumables, equipment, and services required for shipbuilding, ship repair, and marine projects.

Review technical specifications, drawings, material lists (BOQ), and project requirements to determine procurement needs.

Prepare RFQs, obtain competitive quotations, conduct price comparisons, and negotiate commercial terms with suppliers.

Coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA-QC, and Project teams to ensure clarity on material specifications.

Evaluate vendor quotations based on cost, delivery, quality, and compliance with technical requirements.

Maintain strong vendor relationships and develop new suppliers, especially for marine equipment and shipyard-specific materials.

Ensure timely purchase order (PO) creation, follow-up, and delivery tracking to meet project timelines.

Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, purchase logs, supplier data, and pricing.

Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, and stores for material receipt, inspection, and documentation.

Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, marine industry standards, and project quality requirements.

Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for tender and project purposes.

Address supply chain risks, delays, and discrepancies by coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
