Process And Proposal Engineer

Location: Chennai
Qualification: B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech Chemical Engineering / Environmental Engineering Experience: 5 10 years in Process/Proposal Engineering and Tendering/Estimation for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants in Industrial or Municipal Segments

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process / Proposal Engineer to join our team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in tendering, estimation, and engineering design for water and wastewater treatment projects. The role involves both proposal and process engineering tasks, including technical documentation, cost estimation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal Engineering:

• Analyze tender/enquiry documents and understand project scope and technical requirements.
• Perform basic sizing calculations and prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Prepare schedules for piping, valves, drives, and instrumentation.
• Develop technical proposals, P&IDs, and general layout drawings.
• Provide technical inputs to Civil, Electrical & Instrumentation teams.
• Liaise with suppliers/sub-vendors to obtain technical and commercial backups for key BOQ items.
• Perform cost estimation for process equipment, mechanical components, piping, and valves.
• Prepare comprehensive tender technical documentation.

Process Engineering:

• Create and submit basic engineering documents and Master Document List (MDL) to clients/consultants.
• Collaborate with clients to discuss and obtain approvals for basic engineering deliverables.
• Prepare detailed engineering documents such as datasheets, valve schedules, and piping schedules.
• Review and technically evaluate sub-vendor quotations and coordinate with vendors.
• Prepare project budgets and align with project requirements.
• Interface with the procurement team to support ordering of equipment and materials.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and technologies.
• Proficiency in process engineering tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Office, etc.)
• Experience in interpreting and preparing P&IDs, layouts, and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders/projects simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in Industrial or Municipal water/wastewater projects.

Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and industry practices.
