Job Description

Role Overview: As a Principal Quality Engineer at The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), you will play a pivotal role in leading the quality initiatives within the EIU business unit. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining all quality and test activities, collaborating with stakeholders to define test requirements, coaching teams in best practices, and ensuring the application of industry standards for testing tools and techniques. Additionally, you will work towards improving testing and quality processes to enable a shift left approach, coordinate test execution and reporting across teams, and oversee the line management of existing quality engineers. Key Responsibilities: - Manage and maintain all quality & test activities within EIU - Work closely with the Head of Quality Engineering to ensure the Quality Engineering Strategy is followed - Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional and non-functional test requirements - Ensure all testing phases are reliable and effective - Coach teams in best practices & principles - Apply and uphold industry standards for testing tools and techniques - Help define ways to always improve testing and quality processes for a shift left approach - Coordinate test execution and test reporting across teams to stakeholders - Line manage existing quality engineers within the business unit Qualifications Required: - 10 years of experience - Significant programming experience - Significant experience in building automation frameworks for all types of testing - Significant experience in integrating tests into CI/CD - Significant experience in improving unit testing standards - Significant experience in coaching/mentoring colleagues to support development of automation practices - Solid understanding of cloud technologies - Solid understanding of the test pyramid - Solid communication skills - Understanding and appreciation of the benefits of TDD Additional Company Details: The Economist Group (TEG) is an organization dedicated to driving progress and innovation.
