Principal Engineer Android

As a Principal Engineer - Android, you will be involved in all aspects of development, playing a critical role in the design, planning, development, and deployment and helping develop best practices for future development. You will be part of a young and multicultural team that builds a cutting-edge travel consumer-facing product.We are looking for a self-driven individual to join us in an individual contributor role who embodies task ownership, accountability, and the ability to drive results independently.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Developing, releasing, and maintaining native Android Applications and overseeing mobile application development efforts

• Deliver across the entire app life cycle, design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores and support

• Working directly with developers and product managers to conceptualise, build, test and release products

• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.

• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

• Optimising performance for the apps and keeping up to date on the latest industry trends in mobile technologies

• At least an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering

• 5-7 years of experience at cutting-edge organizations or startups

• Extensive experience in developing mobile apps using Android SDK, with proficiency in Core Java and design patterns

• Experience with e-business/e-commerce applications and business environment is a must

• Any experience with internet companies or the travel industry will be a plus

Must have:

• Deep understanding of Android development SDK and strong problem-solving skills

• Deep understanding of Android SDK and Android architecture components.

• Strong programming skills in Kotlin and Core Java.

• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose for modern UI development.

• Proficiency with Gradle build system and dependency management.

• Experience in Dagger 2 / Hilt for dependency injection.

• Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.

• Strong knowledge of network interaction, debugging, concurrency, and multi-threading in Android.

• Experience in unit testing, instrumentation testing, and test-driven development (TDD).

• Understanding of complete app lifecycle development, CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and maintenance.

• Familiarity with app security, performance optimization tools, and profilers.

• Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Bitrise.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong passion for programming.
