Principal Data Engineer

As a Principal Data Engineer (Associate Director) in the ISS Data Platform Team at Fidelity, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures to support data ingestion, integration, and analytics. Your responsibilities will include: - Taking ownership of technical delivery and leading a team of senior and junior developers, providing mentorship and guidance. - Collaborating with enterprise architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements, validate designs, and communicate progress. - Driving technical innovation within the department to increase code reusability, code quality, and developer productivity. - Challenging the status quo by implementing the latest data engineering practices and techniques. Your essential skills and experience should include expertise in leveraging cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks, proficiency in AWS ecosystem, experience in designing event-based data architectures using Kafka, advanced skills in Python and SQL, and expertise in designing CI/CD pipelines for deploying infrastructure and pipelines with test automation. Additionally, experience in data security, performance optimization, RDBMS, NOSQL offerings, CDC ingestion, and orchestration tools will be beneficial. Bonus technical skills such as containerization, deploying applications to Kubernetes, and API development using Python-based frameworks like FastAPI will be advantageous.
