Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Application Review:
Conduct initial review of new life insurance applications for completeness and compliance with basic company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Data Gathering:
Collect and organize essential background information, including financial documents (income statements, assets), medical records, and reports from sources like the Medical Information Bureau (MIB).
Case Preparation:
Prepare files for senior underwriters by summarizing key information, ordering necessary tests or reports (e.g., blood tests, cardiovascular reports, actuarial data), and inputting data into underwriting software.
Communication & Coordination:
Liaise with insurance agents, brokers, and medical specialists to acquire missing information, clarify discrepancies, and manage expectations regarding the underwriting timeline.
Risk Triage:
Screen applications to identify standard, low-risk cases that may be fast-tracked through automated systems, and flag complex or high-risk cases for review by senior underwriters.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed electronic records of all policies underwritten, decisions made, and correspondence in compliance with all privacy and policy guidelines.
Process Improvement:
Assist in testing software upgrades or database changes and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the pre-underwriting process.
