Postdoctoral Researcher & Assistant Professor in Arts & Design

We invite applications from visionary designer-researchers to pioneer the aesthetic and experiential dimensions of human-AI cognitive integration. This role combines design thinking with cognitive science to create interfaces, systems, and experiences that enhance rather than diminish human creative and intellectual capabilities.

Research Focus Areas

• Cognitive Interface Design:

  Create intuitive visual languages for human-AI collaboration systems

• Necrobotics Aesthetics:

  Explore design principles for bio-hybrid therapeutic systems

• Spatial Cognition & Design:

  Develop environments that optimize human cognitive performance

• Data Visualization for Complex Systems:

  Design comprehensible representations of cognitive modeling outputs

• Speculative Design for Human Augmentation:

  Envision futures where technology preserves human agency

Key Responsibilities

Research & Creative Practice:

• Design user interfaces for Behavioral GPS, UHIS, IAMS, and N-PACE systems
• Develop aesthetic frameworks for necrobotic applications in healthcare
• Create immersive experiences that demonstrate cognitive augmentation principles
• Lead interdisciplinary design research projects combining art, technology, and cognitive science

Academic & Creative Excellence:

• Teach graduate studios in speculative design, interaction design, and design for emerging technologies
• Mentor MFA students in technology-integrated creative practices
• Exhibit work at international design conferences and art venues
• Publish in design research journals and contribute to design theory development

Applied Design Impact:

• Collaborate with industry partners on user experience design for cognitive systems
• Design public installations that educate about human-AI collaboration
• Contribute visual and spatial design expertise to smart city and healthcare projects
• Develop design guidelines for ethical human-technology integration

Qualifications

Required:

• MFA, PhD in Design, or equivalent terminal degree in related field
• Portfolio demonstrating excellence in interaction design, service design, or speculative design
• Experience with user-centered design methodologies and human factors research
• Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Rhino, etc.)
• Understanding of cognitive psychology or human-computer interaction principles

Preferred:

• Background in data visualization or information design
• Experience with emerging technologies (AR/VR, IoT, AI interfaces)
• Research experience in design for healthcare or transportation systems
• Knowledge of biomaterials or bio-design applications
• Exhibition record in galleries, museums, or design festivals
