Platform Engineer Lead

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance & Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D) Platform Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise data governance solutions using IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D) and Watson Knowledge Catalog (WKC). In this role, you will provide end-to-end operational support, automation, disaster recovery readiness, and integration across hybrid cloud platforms (IaaS & PaaS).

This is a hands-on engineering and operations role that requires strong technical expertise and proactive collaboration with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure data governance services remain highly available, secure, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Operations & Support

Perform operations, monitoring, maintenance, configuration, provisioning, and decommissioning of Data Governance resources across traditional infrastructure and cloud (IaaS & PaaS).

Provide break/fix support and meet or exceed defined SLAs/XLAs.

Manage onboarding of new users and projects; ensure timely DR event support and exercises.

Oversee and continuously improve processes for backup/restore, patching, security, automation, and integration.

Ensure end-to-end monitoring, alerting, and change management in line with documented RACI and client standards.

Application & Metadata Management

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or cloud platform operations.

Strong hands-on expertise with IBM Cloud Pak for Data (v4.x or later), Watson Knowledge Catalog (WKC), and IBM Information Server/DataStage.

Solid understanding of IaaS/PaaS provisioning, automation (Ansible or similar), and hybrid cloud architectures.

Proficiency in backup/restore, disaster recovery planning, patching, and security hardening.

Experience debugging complex issues across logs (SystemOut, igc.log, etc.) and integrating diverse data sources.

Preferred Skills

IBM certifications in CP4D or Data Governance.

Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and ITIL processes.

Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
