Platform Engineer

Citi is currently undergoing a significant transformation initiative aimed at simplifying and modernizing its existing core banking platform. As part of this initiative, the DDA module housed within the legacy core banking platform is set to be transitioned to a modern cloud-native next-generation DDA platform. This new platform will be instrumental in providing account management and transaction processing capabilities for Citis Institutional Clients Group (ICG) business on a global scale. In line with the completion of the selection process for the new DDA platform, Citi is seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to join the team. The Platform Engineer will play a crucial role in constructing internal platforms, tools, and automation that will empower development teams to efficiently deliver top-notch software solutions in collaboration with the Technology team. Key Responsibilities: - Utilize your expertise in applications development procedures and concepts, alongside a basic understanding of other technical areas, to identify and define necessary enhancements to systems, including utilizing script tools and analyzing code. - Collaborate with users, clients, and various technology groups to address issues, propose programming solutions, install and provide support for customer exposure systems. - Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages to develop design specifications. - Conduct thorough analysis of applications to pinpoint vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as carry out testing and debugging processes. - Act as an advisor or mentor to new or junior analysts within the team. - Identify problems, analyze information, and make informed judgments to recommend and implement effective solutions. - Resolve issues by selecting solutions based on technical experience and precedents, demonstrating the ability to work with minimal direct supervision. - Exercise independent judgment and autonomy while acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for senior stakeholders and team members. - Evaluate risks associated with business decisions, with a focus on upholding the firm's reputation and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Qualifications: - 4+ years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry. - Intermediate level experience in Java Applications Development. - Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (OpenShift) and deployment/packaging solutions like Dockers/Kubernetes, OpenShift. - Experience in Agile software development processes with an emphasis on test-driven development. - Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with tools such as JIRA, BlackDuck, SONAR, etc. - Ability to assess design trade-offs and effectively document choices. - Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. - Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. - Capability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and adapt to unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
