Planning Engineer (Water Supply & Irrigation Projects)

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare and update

  Project Schedules (Baseline & Revised)

  using MS Project / Primavera (P6).
  
• Develop

  work breakdown structures (WBS)

  , define activities, sequence tasks, and estimate timeframes.
• Plan detailed schedules for

  intake wells, jack wells, OHTs, pump houses, transmission mains, distribution networks, and irrigation canals

  .

2. Resource & Cost Management

• Prepare

  resource allocation plans

  including manpower, materials, machinery, and subcontractors.
• Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and support the

  cost control team

  .
• Forecast resource requirements and identify gaps to avoid delays.
  

3. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly progress reviews with site teams.
  
• Track progress against baseline and highlight

  delays, risks, and critical issues

  .
• Prepare

  MIS reports, S-curves, cash flow statements, bar charts

  , and progress dashboards.

4. Coordination & Documentation

• Coordinate with

  design, procurement, site execution, and client teams

  for smooth delivery.
• Prepare and maintain

  project documentation

  , including drawings, material approvals, and work permits.
• Review construction drawings and provide planning inputs.
  

5. Risk & Delay Analysis

• Perform

  critical path analysis (CPM)

  to identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare

  delay analysis reports

  , extension of time (EOT) justifications, and mitigation plans.
• Ensure compliance with government norms, QA/QC standards, and safety guidelines.
  

6. Site Interface

• Conduct regular site visits to verify actual progress and compare with planned activities.
  
• Ensure timely completion of major components like

  intake structures, OHTs, pumping stations, DI/HDPE pipeline works, canal lining, and irrigation structures

  .
• Assist in resolving site planning issues.
