Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Subject Matter Expert in Piston Cooling Nozzles to join our dynamic engineering R&D team. The ideal candidate will be a mechanical engineering professional with a deep understanding of the design, development, simulation, testing, and manufacturing aspects of piston cooling systems, with a particular focus on cooling nozzles . This role will provide critical technical leadership, drive innovation, and ensure optimal performance and reliability of our engine cooling solutions. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Act as the primary technical authority and go-to expert for all aspects related to piston cooling nozzles, including design principles, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Design & Development: Lead and contribute to the design and development of advanced piston cooling nozzle solutions for various engine applications, considering performance, durability, efficiency, and cost targets. Analysis & Simulation: Utilize and guide advanced simulation tools (e.g., CFD, FEA) for optimizing nozzle geometry, spray patterns, flow characteristics, and heat dissipation within the piston cooling system. Testing & Validation: Oversee and interpret results from experimental testing of piston cooling nozzles, including flow characterization, spray visualization, and engine-level performance validation. Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to piston cooling nozzle performance, durability, and manufacturing defects. Conduct thorough root cause analyses and implement effective corrective actions. Material Selection & Manufacturing Process: Provide expert guidance on the selection of appropriate materials for piston cooling nozzles, considering operating conditions, wear resistance, and manufacturing feasibility. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes. Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with external suppliers of piston cooling nozzles and related components to ensure adherence to technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules. Innovation & Research: Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and research in engine cooling and lubrication systems. Proactively identify and champion opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in piston cooling nozzle technology. Standards & Best Practices: Develop and implement internal technical standards, specifications, and best practices for piston cooling nozzle design, analysis, and testing. Mentorship & Training: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior engineers and cross-functional teams. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and documentation related to design, analysis, testing, and problem resolution. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering OR Master's Degree (M.E.) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Experience: [Insert relevant years of experience, 8-10+ years of progressive experience in engine design, development, or research, with a specialized focus on internal combustion engine cooling systems, particularly piston cooling and lubrication . Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics as applied to engine cooling systems. Proven expertise in the design, analysis, and testing of piston cooling nozzles. Strong understanding of engine oil lubrication systems and their interaction with piston cooling. Familiarity with various engine architectures (e.g., diesel, gasoline, commercial vehicle, passenger car). Proficiency with relevant engineering software tools (e.g., CAD, CFD, FEA specify particular software if critical, e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, Abaqus). Knowledge of materials commonly used in engine components (e.g., cast iron, aluminum alloys, steels). Understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to small, precision components like bending , cutting , sizing . Preferred Qualifications: ME in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on fluid mechanics, heat transfer, or internal combustion engines. Experience with engine performance and emissions testing. Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques for nozzles (e.g., additive manufacturing). Experience with global engineering teams and suppliers. Skills & Attributes: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Proven leadership and mentoring abilities. Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy. Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.
