Description
As an Engineering Manager at Sondrel, your role is crucial in managing, supporting, and providing direction to your team to achieve project deliverables at a high standard. You will lead by example by implementing the Sondrel culture to create a high-performing team and deliver on commitments. **Key Responsibilities:** - Contribute to projects as a physical design lead, ensuring timely and top-notch quality milestones are achieved by the team. - Take a hands-on approach by working on physical design and closure of subsystems or full-chip to lead by example. - Demonstrate customer intimacy through clear and customer-focused communication, issue resolution, and delivery beyond expectations. - Collaborate with broader engineering teams to improve methodologies and adopt best industry practices. - Provide expert advice and debugging capabilities for critical issues across multiple projects. - Motivate direct reports to manage their time efficiently and deliver on day-to-day tasks. - Plan physical design activities from project initiation to tapeout. - Offer inputs and feedback on engineering effort estimations for new projects during the bidding stage. - Participate in social engagements and foster a culture of recognition to reward success and enhance collaboration. - Coordinate with EDA tool vendors to ensure critical tool issues are addressed and necessary support is provided. - Work with the Senior Engineering Manager to develop a high-performing team by continuously improving team performance and setting SMART objectives aligned with project deliverables. - Engage in hiring activities to address current and future skills gaps within the team. - Ensure team compliance with company policies, procedures, and processes. - Manage the employee lifecycle within your team, including onboarding/offboarding, absence/holiday management, and retention initiatives. - Communicate company messages effectively, hold regular team meetings, 1:1s, and annual appraisals. - Coordinate Sondrel's representation at universities, conferences, and trade shows. **Qualifications Required:** - Management skills with experience in empowering, delegating, and developing teams. - Strong customer engagement skills and the ability to influence technical direction. - Proficiency in physical design activities on medium to large chips with expertise in FullChip implementation. - Effective communication across different lingual, geographical, and cultural associations. - Technical skills in FullChip implementation concepts, debugging, low power techniques, and physical design flow. - Experience in developing technical sales documents and engaging with customers during business development cycles. - Desirable skills include experience in Microsoft Project, customer management, and crisis management.
