The Engineering Manager is responsible for directly managing, supporting, and providing direction and motivational leadership to their team, to achieve project deliverables to a high standard. Liaise with the EDA tool vendors to ensure that the critical tool issues are followed-up and necessary support is provided. Coach and mentor others to improve performance. Lead physical design activities on medium to large chips comprising of 10+ engineers spread across various geographical locations. Efficiently converse with people across different lingual, geographical, and cultural associations. Keep track of and assess the risks involved in a project. Work with the Senior Engineering Manager to create a high-performing team by continuously improving team performance, managing employee-related issues, setting SMART objectives in line with project deliverables, and developing direct reports in their career progression. Liaise with the Senior Engineering Manager to hire to headcount to address the current and future skills gaps and capability within the team. Communicate, follow, and ensure your team understands and adheres to company policies, procedures, and processes. Manage the employee lifecycle within your team, including but not restricted to onboarding/offboarding, absence/holiday management, and monitoring departmental employee turnover and improving retention. Ensure company messages are communicated and understood by the team and appropriate feedback is given to management by holding regular team meetings, 1:1s, objective reviews, and annual appraisals. Work with the Senior Engineering Manager by coordinating representation of Sondrel at universities, conferences, and trade shows, and presenting technical papers. As an Engineering Manager, you are expected to have at least 10+ years of experience with a good understanding and implementation of complete physical design flow in advanced process nodes. Hands-on experience in timing report analysis, EDA tool knowledge essential with either Synopsys or Cadence flows is required. Expertise in debugging issues, providing out-of-the-box solutions, understanding low power implementation techniques, and DRC/LVS signoff using ICValidator is essential. Desirable skills include experience with Microsoft Project for project planning and risk analysis, customer management, crisis management, and knowledge of DFT concepts and timing constraint development.
