Fully funded BITS–RMIT PhD: Research in India, experience in Australia

I’m excited to invite motivated students to apply for a PhD project on Object tracking Applications using drones.

This PhD project, a collaboration between BITS Pilani and RMIT University, aims to develop a smart drone system using computer vision and machine learning to track moving objects in crowded urban areas. The drones can handle obstacles like buildings and trees by predicting movements and adjusting flight paths. Multiple drones work together, sharing data for accurate tracking. Real-time image processing happens onboard using tools like YOLO on Coral TPUs, while cloud computing supports deeper analysis. Machine learning helps the system adapt to changing environments and improve over time. Applications include surveillance, rescue missions, deliveries, and infrastructure inspection.

The project outputs will be extensively used in many applications like military and civilian surveillance, urban policing, and traffic monitoring, to name a few
