Patent Associate - Mechanical

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Patent Associate with a strong academic foundation and up to 2 years of relevant experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will support patent-related tasks with a focus on prior art search, patent drafting, and technical documentation, primarily in the mechanical and related engineering domains.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prior art and patentability searches using databases such as Derwent, PatBase, or PatSeer
• Draft high-quality patent specifications in line with Indian and international standards (USPTO, EPO, etc.)
• Assist in the preparation of office action responses and amendments
• Collaborate with inventors, R&D teams, and senior attorneys to capture technical disclosures
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent law developments and guidelines
• Support in analytics, landscape studies, and technology benchmarking as needed

Qualifications

• B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering

  (other core engineering disciplines may also be considered)
• Strong academic track record (First Class / Distinction preferred)
• Up to 2 years of experience in a patent firm, in-house IP team, or patent services company
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and technical comprehension abilities

• Patent Agent qualification (India)

• Familiarity with tools like MS Office, patent search platforms, and drawing tools (optional
