Job Title: Para Legal Worker – Mahila Panchayat Project
Number of Positions: 9
Location: Narela, Delhi
Salary: ₹22,000 per month
Reporting To: Project Coordinator

Job Summary:

Each Para Legal Worker will be responsible for approximately 1,000 households in the assigned area. The role involves identifying vulnerable women, conducting gender sensitization and legal literacy meetings, supporting women in distress, and facilitating Mahila Panchayat activities. The position demands field-level engagement, proactive identification of at-risk individuals, and close collaboration with Mahila Panchayat members and local institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Mobilization & Identification
  • Conduct house-to-house visits to identify at-risk or vulnerable women.
  • Regularly follow up with identified women and provide necessary support.
  • Identify and mobilize women to be included in the Mahila Panchayat from each community.
  • Gender Sensitization & Legal Awareness
  • Conduct regular Mohalla meetings to promote gender sensitivity and raise legal awareness within the community.
  • Educate community members on women’s rights, entitlements, and available support systems.
  • Support & Case Work
  • Support survivors of domestic violence in submitting applications to the Mahila Panchayat.
  • Register and follow up on all complaints received by the Mahila Panchayat.
  • Ensure Mahila Panchayat members are actively involved in investigating and resolving cases.
  • Assist women in accessing government offices, legal aid services, and other support mechanisms.
  • Facilitation & Community Engagement
  • Facilitate Mahila Panchayat hearings and encourage Panchayat members to take leadership roles.
  • Motivate and engage Panchayat members and Nigrani Samooh members to act as community monitors and report gender-based issues.
  • Training & Event Support
  • Actively support the Project Coordinator in the planning and implementation of community events, awareness campaigns, and trainings for Mahila Panchayat and Nigrani Samooh members.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 10+2 pass; preference will be given to those with prior experience in community work or women’s rights.
  • Resident of or familiar with the local community in Narela.
  • Good communication skills in Hindi and local dialects.
  • Empathetic, trustworthy, and sensitive to issues of gender and violence.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and support survivors with dignity and respect.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work in the field and engage in door-to-door outreach.
  • Basic understanding of legal rights and procedures will be an advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
