Paint Shop Supervisor

Location: Juinager Navi Mumbai
Reports To: Paint shop Manager

The Paint Shop Supervisor leads daily operations in the paint facility, guiding a team of paint technicians through surface treatment, precise paint mixing, and paint application processes. The goal is to ensure consistent, high-quality finishes while maintaining production efficiency and safety compliance.

1. Surface Preparation & Pre‑Paint Treatment

• Oversee surface preparation processes: cleaning, degreasing, sanding, masking, and masking removal.
• Ensure proper treatment of substrates (e.g. primer coats, phosphate pretreatment, etching) for optimal adhesion

2. Paint Mixing & Material Knowledge

• Supervise correct formulation and color matching using suppliers’ technical systems (e.g. mixing ratio, tinting, basecoat, clearcoat).
• Optimize paint usage and minimize waste through proper mix volume control and spares management.

3. Paint Application & Quality Control

• Monitor spray application—primer, basecoat, clearcoat—in booths systems to ensure even coverage, adhesion, and finish quality.
• Conduct regular inspections and defect analysis; lead corrective actions to resolve paint surface issues such as runs, orange peel, or mismatches.

4. Team Management & Training

• Supervise and coordinate paint shop staff: assign tasks, manage shifts, and monitor productivity.
• Provide training on paint application, safety protocols, equipment handling, and color-matching techniques.

5. Production Scheduling & Process Optimization

• Plan production load, liaise with stores for material availability, and track job throughput against schedules.
• Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks, implement process improvements (5S, lean, waste reduction).

6. Inventory & Equipment Management

• Monitor stock levels of paints, solvents, toners, and consumables; initiate timely requisitions.
• Ensure maintenance and calibration of spray guns, mixing equipment, and booths.

7. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

• Implement and enforce safety protocols (EHS, MSDS handling, ventilation, PPE, solvent exposure control).
• Maintain records of batch formulas, process parameters, production logs, quality reports, and incidents.

✅ Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Diploma- chemical / B.Sc, Chemistry, or Paint Technology (Automotive background preferred).
• Experience: 4–8+ years in paint shop or body-shop operations, with 2+ years in supervisory capacity. Practical knowledge in surface prep, mixing, and spray finishing required.
• Technical Skills:
• Hands-on with paint mixing units, spray equipment, color-matching systems.
• Strong understanding of solvent and water‑based topcoat chemistry, additives, and drying/curing techniques.
• Leadership & Soft Skills:
• Team‑leading, coaching, planning skills.
• Problem-solving, quality focus, and ability to drive process improvements.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
