Outpatient RN CAP 1

The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry-level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). In this role, you will be accountable and responsible for providing and coordinating clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients. Your responsibilities will include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care, which may involve delegating appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff such as RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As a vital member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, you will participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations. All duties and responsibilities must be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, procedures, standards of nursing practice, as well as state and federal regulations. Under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or other Registered Nurses, you will perform essential functions, including systematic collection and analysis of patient data during hemodialysis treatment, adjustment of treatment plans, documentation, and communication with the healthcare team as needed. Your role will also involve assessing and documenting patient/family learning needs, providing education, ensuring safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy, administering medications, initiating emergency response measures, and serving as a resource for the healthcare team. You will collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team to update nursing assessments and care plans, ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment options, and complete CAP requirements for advancement. The physical demands of this position include direct patient care involving heavy lifting, assisting with patient movement, and prolonged periods of standing. You may also be required to lift heavy equipment and materials, work in a healthcare facility environment with exposure to infectious diseases, interact with patients and healthcare staff, and travel to training sites or other facilities. Additionally, you may provide oversight to Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge after meeting specific experience and training requirements. To qualify for this position, you must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, hold current state licensure, and possess CPR BLS Certification. Experience in nephrology nursing and hemodialysis is preferred but not required for entry-level RNs.
