Job Description

Job Summary:

Oracle Backup & Recovery Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement
Oracle backup and recovery strategies
using RMAN and third-party tools.
Perform
database backups (full/incremental/archivelog)
and
restores (point-in-time, tablespace, block-level)
as required.
Manage
disaster recovery
and
high availability
solutions, including
Oracle Data Guard (physical/logical standby)
.
Automate backup jobs and validation processes using
scripts, RMAN catalogs
, and scheduling tools (e.g., cron, OEM).
Monitor backup job success, analyze logs, and remediate failures.
Conduct
backup and recovery testing
, including DR simulations and documentation of procedures.
Maintain and troubleshoot
Oracle Flashback
,
Fast Recovery Area (FRA)
, and
archivelog management
.
Collaborate with infrastructure and storage teams to ensure adequate backup storage capacity and retention.
Support upgrades, patching, and migrations with pre/post-backup strategies.
Work with security teams to ensure compliance with backup encryption and data protection policies.
Provide on-call and off-hours support for recovery and DR events when required.

Required Skills and Experience:

Understanding of
Oracle ASM
,
Flash Recovery Area
, and
archive log management
.
Hands-on experience with
point-in-time recovery (PITR)
and
tablespace recovery
.
Knowledge of
backup encryption

compression
, and
retention policies
.
Experience with
cloud-based backup strategies
(Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, Azure).
