In-House Counsel

Role Overview:

We seek a proactive, highly skilled, and detail-oriented In-House Counsel to join our team. The

candidate will play a critical role in supporting company growth and managing the legal framework of

our business operations, including contract management, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risks.

The ideal candidate has worked with one or more companies engaged in complex distribution and

supply chain networks, and is familiar with ecommerce marketplace business models and associated

legal frameworks. Candidates with experience in large enterprise companies or marketplaces are

preferred.

Moreover, the candidate should have had exposure or experience with drafting, reviewing, and

negotiating international commercial contracts, which includes the area of export, import, shipping,

and warehousing. Finally, as it is an in-house role, candidates are expected to ensure compliance with

employment laws and data privacy regulations and processing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and organize legal filing systems, archiving, and records to ensure accessibility and

compliance.

Candidates with hands-on experience in utilizing contract management tools or systems will be highly preferred. Familiarity with digital workflows for contract drafting, approval, and tracking, as well as the ability to leverage analytics from these systems to improve compliance, visibility, and efficiency in legal operations, will be considered an added advantage. 

• Leverage legal technology to improve contract management, compliance monitoring, and

operational efficiency.

• Oversee day-to-day legal operations and serve as the main point of contact for internal and

external legal matters.

• Draft, review, and negotiate international commercial contracts, including vendor agreements,

non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), service-level agreements (SLAs), and partnership

contracts.

• Develop and maintain standard contract templates tailored to the companys operations.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation.
• Ensure the company complies with international trade laws, import/export regulations, data

protection requirements, etc.

• Oversee adherence to consumer protection regulations, product labeling, safety standards,

and advertising laws.

• Develop, implement, and maintain internal legal policies, procedures, and frameworks, and

conduct periodic reviews to ensure policies remain relevant and effective.

Youre the perfect candidate for this role if you:

• Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; an LLM and/or active bar

membership in at least one jurisdiction is a plus.

• 6-8 years of experience as a legal counsel, preferably in corporate or in-house roles.
• Exposure to legal operations within large enterprise companies or marketplaces is highly

desirable.

• Strong in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Highly proficient communication and excellent negotiation skills with a business-first mindset.
