Job
Description
As a Configuration Specialist, your primary responsibility will be setting up uCMDB configurations as per directives provided by the Configuration Process Manager. This includes defining the concept of Universal Discovery (UD) and identifying its applications implementation method based on functional requirements. Your tasks will involve identifying the architecture and deployment process of UD, as well as the installation and setup of the data flow probe and its log files. You will need to define concepts such as discovery adapters, discovery jobs, discovery scripts, and other discovery resources. Utilizing tools like CMS UI, Admin UI, and UD for discovery activities, you will be required to set up zone-based discovery methods and conduct discovery activities. You will also need to define TQL (Topology Query Language) according to process and business requirements. In addition, your role will involve designing and building agentless and agent-based discoveries, using inventory scanners, working with Software Library Viewer and various inventory tools, and applying application recognition processes and discovery rules. Troubleshooting issues related to integration, reconciliation, merging, and purging rules will be part of your responsibilities. You will also set up Enrichment rules in uCMDB and SMAX for data fulfilment and enrichment purposes. Furthermore, you will perform tasks such as application dependency mapping discovery, inventory discovery, system upgrades, CP upgrades, and underlying infrastructure management. You will create and move release packages from lower to production environments and ensure proper control of all Configuration Items under management. Collaborating with CI custodian groups, you will host governance forums to track and address operational challenges. You will also conduct configuration audits to validate information in CMDB and initiate root cause analysis and corrective actions when required. Your role will also involve coordinating effective Service Catalogue Management, change processes, Release Management, and other ITIL processes to deliver required Asset and Configuration data life-cycle processes. Additionally, you will provide knowledge transfer and training to technical groups and advance capabilities to less experienced staff. Creating and maintaining Application and Service Models, seeking support from Service/Application Owners, will be part of your responsibilities. You will assist the Process Manager in driving key objectives of the Configuration Management Process and participate in UATs pre and post any internal periodic release. Moreover, you will validate CMDB with any Change Management Request implementation as part of the review process. Independently tackling process failures and communicating updates to collaborators will also be expected from you. Finally, you will support the Process Manager in reviewing process and related documentation, represent Configuration Management in different forums, and educate through campaigns. This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities to contribute to product release activities and drive efficiency within the Configuration Management Process.,
