Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1.

Supervise, train and evaluate housekeeping staff, ensuring that they are well-trained, motivated and capable of meeting departmental objectives.

2.

Establish and enforce cleaning and sanitation standards in compliance with healthcare regulations. Monitor and maintain cleanliness in patient rooms, common areas, offices and public spaces.

3.

Manage and order cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring that an adequate stock is maintained while managing expenses effectively.

4.

Prepare and manage the housekeeping budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial constraints.

5.

Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts and areas of responsibility.

6.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure that cleaning protocols and standards are met. Address deficiencies promptly and take corrective actions.

7.

Collaborate with infection control teams to implement effective measures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital.

8.

Ensure that housekeeping practices align with hospital safety and environmental guidelines. Promote a safe work environment for housekeeping staff and ensure they are trained on safety protocols.

9.

Oversee the proper disposal of medical waste, hazardous materials and general waste in accordance with regulatory requirements.

10.

Manage hospital recycling and waste reduction programs, including initiatives to reduce the hospital's environmental footprint.

11.

Develop and implement housekeeping plans and procedures for emergency situations, such as disease outbreaks or natural disasters.

12.

Maintain records, reports and documentation related to housekeeping activities, staff training and compliance.

13.

Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment.

14.

1. Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in managing a diverse team.

2. Knowledge of healthcare cleaning and sanitation standards, including regulations related to infectious disease control.
