Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Role Purpose

The NPD Manager is responsible for end-to-end new product development for retail display fixtures. The role focuses on innovation, cost optimization, quality compliance, and timely launch of products aligned with market demand, customer requirements, and global standards.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Development

  • Lead the complete NPD lifecycle from concept, design, commercialization, prototyping, and implementation.
  • Develop customized retail display fixtures using MS, SS, and wood as per customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with sales, projects, production, and quality teams to convert requirements into feasible designs and oversee installation.

Design & Engineering

  • Review drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Drive value engineering to optimize material usage, cost, and manufacturability.

Market & Customer Alignment

  • Analyze market trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies.
  • Support sales with technical inputs, product presentations, and feasibility studies.
  • Customize products for domestic and export markets based on customer requirements.

Project & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with procurement, production, QA, and supply chain for smooth product development and launch.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, cost targets, and quality benchmarks.
  • Support pilot production and resolve manufacturing or design issues.

Quality, Testing & Compliance

  • Define testing protocols and validation plans for new products.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and customer certifications.
  • Support audits and inspections when required.

Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Maintain design records, change management, and revision controls.
  • Standardize product designs and improve NPD processes for efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and guide design engineers and draftsmen.
  • Allocate tasks, review performance, and build technical capability within the team.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Strong knowledge of retail display racking systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD / SolidWorks / 3D Max.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes (roll-forming, fabrication, welding, painting).
  • Project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Costing, value engineering, and problem-solving skills.
