New Product Development Executive

Job Purpose

The Deputy Manager New Product Development is responsible for planning, developing, and industrializing new cold-forged products from concept to mass production. The role focuses on design feasibility, process development, tooling coordination, cost optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful product launches that meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Role & responsibilities

New Product Development

• Lead and support end-to-end NPD activities for cold-forged components
• Review customer drawings and specifications for feasibility, manufacturability, and cost
• Develop process flow, forming sequence, and material selection for cold forging
• Coordinate prototype development, trials, and validation activities
• Support APQP, PPAP, and customer approvals

Cold Forging & Process Engineering

• Design and optimize cold forging processes, including multi-stage forming
• Coordinate with the tool room and die suppliers for die design, development, and trials
• Analyze forming loads, material flow, die life, and defect prevention
• Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and tool life. Cross-Functional Coordination
• Work closely with Quality, Production, Tool Room, Purchase, and Marketing teams
• Support cost estimation, BOM preparation, and cycle time calculations
• Assist in machine selection, capacity planning, and line layout for new products
  

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in New Product Development with strong exposure to

  Cold Forging

• Hands-on experience with automotive fasteners or precision forged components preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Metallurgy
• A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of cold forging processes and tooling
  
• Understanding of materials (carbon steel, alloy steel, heat treatment)
  
• Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and Control Plan
  
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
  
• Familiarity with CAD tools and simulation software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, DEFORM preferred)
