Key Responsibilities: - Prepare the operating room with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies for neurosurgery procedures. - Assist surgeons during neurosurgical operations by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field. - Monitor patients' vital signs and neurological status during surgery. - Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care. - Participate in preoperative assessments and educate patients and families about the surgical process. - Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and surgical procedures. - Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures at all times. - Stay updated on best practices and advancements in neuro surgery nursing. Skills and Tools Required: - Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license. - Experience in operating room settings, particularly in neurosurgery. - Knowledge of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team. - Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations. - Proficient in using surgical instruments and technology associated with neurosurgery. - Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare software systems. - Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred. You are Responsible for: Providing direct patient care before, during, and after neurosurgery procedures. Assisting in the preparation of the operating room and ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available. Monitoring patients’ vital signs and responding to any changes in their condition. Educating patients and their families about the surgical process and post-operative care. Documenting all nursing care and contributing to the overall surgical team communication. To succeed in this role – you should have the following: A valid nursing license and specialized training in operating room nursing. Experience in neuro nursing or surgical nursing is highly preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively collaborate with the surgical team. A detail-oriented approach to patient care and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment. Compassion and empathy to provide emotional support to patients and their families.
