Position:

Network Systems Engineer - India

Type:

Hourly contract

Compensation:

$10.5/hour

Location:

India (Remote)

Commitment:

Minimum 10 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

  • Design sandboxed, terminal-based environments that simulate real-world network systems and infrastructure challenges.
  • Create reproducible networking tasks involving diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of system-level issues.
  • Build scenarios that simulate network architectures, protocol behavior, routing changes, failures, and misconfigurations.
  • Develop benchmarks that test autonomous agents on networking reasoning, decision-making, and adaptability.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to define task structures, reward mechanisms, and success criteria.
  • Implement tooling for environment resets, benchmark versioning, and log collection.
  • Scale challenges from single-node networking issues to complex, distributed, multi-host environments.

Requirements

  • Background in systems engineering, network engineering, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong proficiency with Linux-based networking, shell scripting, and terminal workflows.
  • Solid understanding of core networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and HTTP/S.
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Docker, iptables, tcpdump, Wireshark, Netcat, Kubernetes, or QEMU.
  • Experience working with distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, or sandboxed environments.
  • Ability to simulate and troubleshoot network failures, routing changes, and configuration issues.
  • Interest in designing terminal-driven benchmarks to evaluate autonomous agent reasoning and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable working independently with full ownership of projects.
