Job Summary

MS SQL Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Monitor, maintain, and support
MS SQL Server databases
across development, test, and production environments.
Provide
L1/L2/L3 support
for SQL-related incidents, service requests, and performance issues.
Troubleshoot database connectivity, locking/blocking, deadlocks, query performance, and backup/restore issues.
Perform
database maintenance
tasks such as backups, restores, indexing, patching, and upgrades.
Assist in implementing
security policies, user access management, and compliance checks
.
Work closely with developers and application teams for query optimization and deployment support.
Document standard operating procedures, troubleshooting steps, and solutions for recurring issues.
Participate in
on-call support
rotation and provide timely resolutions.
Ensure adherence to
ITIL processes
(incident, change, problem management).

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong knowledge of
MS SQL Server (2012/2014/2016/2019/2022)
.
Hands-on experience with
T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and functions
.
Proficiency in
SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
and related tools.
Experience in
database backup/recovery, log shipping, mirroring, replication, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups
.
Knowledge of
performance tuning
and query optimization techniques.
Familiarity with
Windows Server environments
and networking basics.
Exposure to
cloud-based SQL (Azure SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server)
is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Good communication and customer service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft certifications such as
MCSA / MCSE: Data Management & Analytics / Azure Database Administrator Associate
.
Experience with
PowerShell scripting or automation tools
.
Knowledge of
ITIL framework
.
