Job Description

The Mother Teacher plays a crucial role in creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children. They are responsible for fostering the holistic development of students through engaging activities, personalized attention, and a strong emphasis on social-emotional growth. The Mother Teacher acts as a primary caregiver and educator, building a strong foundation for future academic success.

Responsibilities:

1. Classroom Management and Instruction:

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and safe learning environment that encourages curiosity and exploration.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum based on established guidelines and educational philosophies (e.g., Montessori, Play-based learning).
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons in areas such as language development, literacy, numeracy, art, music, and physical education.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Observe and assess individual student progress, providing feedback to parents and school administration.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and developmental milestones.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting positive social interactions and conflict resolution skills.
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials and resources.
  • Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

2. Child Development and Care:

  • Provide personalized attention and care to each child, addressing their individual needs and concerns.
  • Foster the development of social-emotional skills, including empathy, cooperation, and self-regulation.
  • Assist children with daily routines, such as toileting, handwashing, and meal times.
  • Promote healthy habits and hygiene practices.
  • Recognize and address signs of distress or developmental delays, communicating with parents and school administration as needed.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with each child, creating a sense of security and belonging.

3. Parent Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide feedback on student performance.
  • Collaborate with parents to address any concerns or challenges related to their child's learning or behavior.
  • Organize and participate in school events and activities, fostering a strong school-parent community.
  • Inform parents of school policies and procedures.

4. Professional Development and Collaboration:

  • Attend professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives.
  • Stay updated on current research and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (preferred).
  • Diploma or certification in Early Childhood Education (required).
  • Proven experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
  • Background check clearance.
