Moodle Developer

Position: Moodle Full Stack developer

Job Specifications:

• 5-7 years experience and skilled Full Stack Moodle Developer to design, develop, and maintain LMS solutions using Moodle LMS.
• Candidate should have strong experience in Moodle customization, plugin/theme development, integration with external systems, and proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies

Educational Qualification:

• Moodle Developer Certification (optional but desirable)
• Knowledge of cloud deployment (AWS)
• Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and data protection standards

Experience:

• IT Experience:

   5-7 years experience

Functional Experience:

• 5-7 years experience in Moodle development, Moodle setup and configuration, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, AJAX, LAMP stack, Linux, Apache. Ionic
• Develop, customize, and maintain Moodle LMS platforms and related web applications.
• Design and implement custom Moodle plugins, blocks, and modules based on business requirements.
• Develop and customize Moodle themes using PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Bootstrap.
• Integrate Moodle with third-party systems such as payment gateways, video conferencing tools (Zoom, BigBlueButton, MS Teams), CRMs, or analytics platforms.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Configure and maintain Moodle environments (installation, upgrades, backup, restoration, server migration).
• Work closely with instructional designers, project managers, and QA teams to ensure seamless functionality.
• Debug and resolve technical issues, including core, plugin, or theme conflicts.
• Implement and maintain RESTful APIs / Web services for data exchange with other platforms.
• Manage version control (e.g., Git) and follow best practices in code documentation.
• Ensure compliance with SCORM, xAPI (Tin Can), and LTI standards where applicable.
• Implement backend services to be utilized in Moodle Mobile app as well as be able to customize Moodle mobile app features

Technical Skills Requirements:

• PHP (advanced), MySQL / MariaDB
• Moodle architecture and API knowledge
• Experience in creating and managing custom plugins
• Familiarity with web services and RESTful APIs
• Experience with Linux server environments and command-line tools

Frontend:

• HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, Bootstrap
• Experience with React / Vue.js (preferred but not mandatory)
• Moodle theme customization and template rendering

DevOps / Tools:

• Git, Bitbucket, or similar version control systems
• Apache / Nginx configuration
• Shell scripting (basic)
• Experience with Docker or CI/CD pipelines

Competency Requirement:

• Proven work experience in Moodle custom plugins development,
• Excellent programming skills, strong problem-solving and debugging abilities
• Excellent understanding of how web applications work in terms of security, session management and best development practices,
• Has hands-on experience in customizing the Moodle mobile app
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
• Detail-oriented and proactive in managing tasks and timelines
