MEP Lead - Contracts & Procurement

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for MEP works aligned with project timelines and budgets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, contractors, and consultants for MEP services.
  • Drive competitive bidding, tendering, and vendor selection processes.
  • Ensure procurement practices comply with company policies and statutory requirements.

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for MEP works, ensuring clarity on scope, deliverables, timelines, and penalties.
  • Manage contract lifecycle: tendering, award, execution, variations, claims, and closure.
  • Mitigate risks by ensuring contracts are legally sound and aligned with project objectives.
  • Resolve disputes and claims in coordination with legal and project teams.

Cost Control & Value Engineering

  • Monitor procurement budgets and ensure cost optimization without compromising quality.
  • Conduct value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities in MEP systems.
  • Track market trends, material prices, and technology innovations to inform procurement decisions.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and consultants.
  • Conduct periodical vendor performance evaluation as per process.
  • Collaborate with project, design, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of MEP works.

Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead a team of procurement and contract professionals.
  • Provide regular reports on procurement status, risks, and savings to senior management.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on procurement best practices and contract administration.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of

    MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting, ELV)

    .
  • Expertise in

    contracts management, tendering, and procurement processes

    .
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and risk management skills.
  • Familiarity with

    SAP systems, procurement software, and project management tools

    .
  • Understanding of

    local building codes, statutory requirements, and sustainability standards

    .

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field (MBA in Supply Chain/Contracts added advantage).
  • 15–18 years of experience in MEP procurement and contracts, with at least 5 years in a lead role.
  • Proven track record in large-scale real estate or construction projects.
