Mep Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Design and Planning

• Develop MEP designs

  for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), electrical systems (power, lighting, communication), and plumbing (water supply, drainage, fire protection).
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and interior designers to integrate MEP systems into building layouts.
  
• Ensure that designs comply with local codes, sustainability goals (e.g., LEED), and client specifications.
  
• Perform

  load calculations, equipment sizing, and energy modeling

  .

2. Project Coordination

• Coordinate MEP installations with civil, architectural, and structural works.
  
• Review and approve

  shop drawings, technical submittals

  , and material samples.
• Attend coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  
• Use tools like

  BIM (Building Information Modeling)

  to detect clashes and optimize space.

3. Procurement and Cost Management

• Estimate quantities and prepare

  Bill of Quantities (BOQ)

  for MEP systems.
• Assist in

  vendor and contractor selection

  based on technical capabilities and pricing.
• Evaluate MEP tenders and quotations for accuracy and scope compliance.
  

4. Installation Supervision and Quality Control

• Supervise on-site

  installation of MEP systems

  to ensure they match approved designs.
• Conduct

  site inspections and quality checks

  on installations and materials.
• Ensure adherence to

  safety standards and construction schedules

  .

5. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Oversee

  testing and commissioning

  of all MEP systems (e.g., HVAC balancing, electrical testing, water pressure tests).
• Troubleshoot issues during commissioning and ensure

  system functionality and performance

  .
• Prepare

  as-built drawings, O&M manuals

  , and training for facility management teams.

6. Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with

  building codes, fire safety norms, environmental regulations

  , and local authority requirements.
• Obtain necessary permits and approvals from regulatory bodies.
  

7. Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

• Recommend and implement

  green building practices

  and energy-efficient systems.
• Use renewable energy solutions (e.g., solar panels, energy-efficient HVAC systems) where feasible.
  

8. Maintenance Planning

• Design systems with future

  maintenance and access

  in mind.
• Assist in creating

  preventive maintenance plans

  for building management post-handover.

Preferred candidate profile

• Real Estate Background is mandatory

• Proficiency in MEP software (AutoCAD MEP, Revit, HAP, Dialux, etc.)
  
• Knowledge of codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, IPC)
  
• Strong project management and coordination skills
  
• Communication and problem-solving abilities
