Job Title: Medical Transcriptionist

Department: Operations - Health Information Management
Location: Vivacity Multispeciality Hospital,Madhyamgram
Reports to: Operations Head/CMA
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract

Job Summary:

The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for listening to voice recordings made by physicians and other healthcare professionals and converting them into accurate, formatted written medical reports. These may include patient histories, discharge summaries, operative reports, diagnostic imaging studies, and other clinical documentation. The transcriptionist ensures completeness, accuracy, and compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations across various specialties within the multispeciality hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe and edit medical dictations from multiple specialties such as cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, oncology, general surgery, internal medicine, etc.
  • Review and verify patient information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure transcribed documents comply with medical, legal, and ethical standards.
  • Edit and proofread transcriptions for grammar, clarity, and consistency.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other data protection regulations.
  • Use Electronic Health Record (EHR) and transcription software efficiently.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify inconsistencies or inaccuracies in dictation.
  • Prioritize workloads to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; diploma or certification in Medical Transcription preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology across various specialties.
  • Proficient in transcription equipment, EHR systems, and MS Office tools.
  • Strong command of English language, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity) – CMT or RMT.
  • Familiarity with voice recognition software and real-time editing.
  • Experience working in a multispeciality hospital or large clinical setting.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based or remote work depending on hospital policies.
  • Shift work may be required based on departmental needs.
  • Extended screen time and sedentary position for long periods.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
