Job Overview: As the Media Strategist/Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive media strategies to increase the organisation's visibility, reach, and impact across digital and conventional media channels. With your extensive experience in media relations, you will drive the creation of compelling narratives, engage target audiences, and amplify awareness of our mission and initiatives. Your strategic expertise will be pivotal in maximising the organisations media presence and advancing our advocacy efforts. Roles and Responsibilities: Develop and execute integrated media strategies aligned with organisational goals, target audiences, and messaging priorities. Identify and cultivate relationships with key media outlets, journalists, influencers, and stakeholders to secure media coverage and partnerships. Create and distribute press releases, media pitches, and other materials to secure media placements in print, broadcast, online, and social media platforms. Monitor media coverage and trends related to our focus areas, providing regular updates and insights to inform strategic decision-making. Collaborate with the communications team to produce high-quality content, including articles, op-eds, videos, infographics, and multimedia assets for media distribution. Coordinate media events, press conferences, and interviews with spokespersons and subject matter experts, ensuring effective media engagement and messaging. Manage media inquiries and interview requests, serving as the primary point of contact for journalists and media partners. Track and analyse media performance metrics, such as reach, impressions, engagement, and sentiment, to evaluate the effectiveness of media campaigns and identify areas for improvement. Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in digital and conventional media landscapes, sharing insights and recommendations with the team.

Requirements: Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing media strategies across print, online, and social media platforms. Excellent media relations skills, with a track record of building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers. Proficiency in media monitoring and analysis tools, such as Cision, Meltwater, or Google Analytics, to track media coverage and measure campaign performance. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate media opportunities and challenges and adapt strategies accordingly. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines. A passion for social causes and a commitment to the mission and values of the organisation. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. 8+ years of proven experience in media relations, public relations, or communications roles, with a focus on both digital and conventional media.
