Role: Mechanical Engineer Project (Fresher) 0 to 3 Year Experience

Primary Objective

To support the mechanical engineering activities related to equipment, piping, and utilities in a greenfield or brownfield chemical plant project, under guidance of senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering Support

• Co ordinate with Process Engineers, Civil & E&I Teams, Contractors & Site Supervisors
• Vendors & QA/QC Inspectors, HSE Team
• Assist in reviewing

  PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layout

  , and

  general arrangement drawings

• Learn and understand

  basic codes & standards

  (ASME, IS, API)
• Support in

  preparation of BOQ

  for mechanical equipment and piping
• Coordinate with vendors to gather

  datasheets and drawings

• Help in preparing

  technical comparison

  sheets for mechanical packages

2. Procurement Assistance

• Follow up with procurement team for mechanical item specifications
• Assist in reviewing vendor documents like

  GA drawings, QAP, test plans

• Maintain documentation related to vendor offers and approvals

3. Site Execution & Supervision

• Support mechanical erection of

  equipment (reactors, tanks, heat exchangers, etc.)

• Monitor installation of

  piping, valves, pumps, and supports

• Learn to check alignment, levels, orientation, and support installations
• Work closely with contractors and ensure

  daily progress tracking

4. Quality and Safety Compliance

• Assist QA/QC in conducting

  visual inspections, hydrotests, pneumatic tests,

• Site inspection of equipment during fabrication like third party welding tests, inspection tests like hydro test , DP test and final inspection of utility equipment and process equipment as per purchase protocol and accepting them on behalf of project.
• Ensure

  safety compliance

  during erection and pre-commissioning work
• Report any deviations to the project supervisor

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily site logs and

  installation checklists

• Prepare

  inspection and test reports

• Assist in preparation of

  mechanical completion dossiers

• Update drawings as per site modifications (red-marked drawings)

6. Commissioning Support

• Assist in

  flushing, pressure testing, alignment,

  and

  trial runs

• Support operations and commissioning team during

  start-up activities

Tools / Software Exposure (as applicable)

• AutoCAD / SolidWorks (for mechanical layouts)
• MS Excel / Word / Project (for documentation)

Learning Expectations (On the Job)

• Understand project lifecycle and role of mechanical engineering
• Learn equipment installation practices
• Develop technical documentation and reporting skills
• Understand coordination between design, procurement, and execution teams

Support in technical bid evaluations and document tracking.

Liaise with procurement for timely delivery and approvals.

Maintain daily logs, checklists, and inspection reports.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams like process, civil, E&I, Piping and Other contractors.
