Job Description

This is a unique opportunity for a convergent thinker with numeracy skills to make a big impact on Gartner s clients as part of the Tech Market Insights (TMI) group within Technology & Service Provider (TSP) practice. As a Market Research Specialist, you will be involved in developing quantitative research for our Technology Service Provider clients to help them understand growth opportunities, technology trends and market dynamics in the software markets. What you will do: Contribute to Gartner Market Share and Forecast reports by analyzing IT vendors revenue, business models, product portfolio and industry trends. Analyze different IT markets and submarkets to develop a detailed understanding of overall market drivers, supply/demand side influencing factors and macro-economic variables. Apply Gartner estimation methodology and modelling of vendor revenues at different segment levels. Contribute to key deliverables other than market share and forecast including Competitive Analysis, Business Metrics Analysis. Assist in forecast assumptions and storylines by conducting research on influencing factors that impact end-user buying behavior and on IT vendors evolving business models, competitive environment etc. Build knowledge on all internal and external data assets and enable the team to leverage these assets for innovative data driven deliverables. Support and contribute to process improvement initiatives within the team. Communicate and collaborate with SMEs (subject-matter experts), TMR team members and other Gartner colleagues on research publications and initiatives. What you will need: BE/B.Tech + MBA with 0-2 years of work experience, or Graduate + MBA from leading Tier I & II - B-schools, or Post-graduates/graduates with IT, Maths, Statistics, Finance and Economics background (B.Sc./BBA/ B.A. Economics/B.Com) Experience in technology research and keen interest in IT markets is a plus Key attributes Highly numerate with excellent critical thinking skills. Must be able to quickly grasp and articulate the fundamentals of a market and demand & growth drivers. Understanding of key technology and macroeconomic trends Excellent written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of databases such as Factiva, Capital IQ, Crunchbase and data visualization tools (Power BI, advance excel etc.) is a plus Strong sense of ownership and a can do attitude. How you will develop your insight: As a Market Research Specialist, you will contribute to the development of a vision for Software market at the local, regional, and global levels. You will have an individualized development plan geared toward acquiring the knowledge and skills you need for long-term career success at Gartner. You will work with thought leaders who will help you develop subject matter expertise and data analysis and visualization skills. You will also have access to an extensive peer network and best-in-class research resources.
