Job Description

The Incumbent will be responsible for-

Job Purpose:

To ensure implementation of safety practices and compliance with all regulatory and company standards across industrial project sites. The Safety Manager will lead site-level safety planning, training, inspection, incident investigation, and drive a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Planning & Compliance:

    • Develop and implement site-specific Safety Management Plans (SMP).
    • Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations (e.g., Factories Act, BOCW Act, ISO, OSHA).
    • Coordinate with contractors and vendors to align them with the safety protocols.

      Monitoring & Audits:

    • Conduct daily safety inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
    • Ensure implementation of corrective/preventive actions post-audits.
    • Maintain EHS documentation, checklists, and reports.

      Training & Awareness:

    • Organize tool-box talks, safety drills, and safety induction programs.
    • Conduct training on use of PPE, emergency preparedness, fire safety, and first aid.
    • Promote behavior-based safety (BBS) programs and campaigns.

      Incident Management:

    • Lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and injuries.
    • Prepare root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
    • Submit incident reports to management and regulatory bodies, if required.

      Safety Equipment & Standards:

    • Ensure availability and usage of PPE, firefighting equipment, and first aid kits.
    • Evaluate and ensure safety compliance of equipment, scaffolding, cranes, etc.
    • Review safety signage, barricading, and permit-to-work systems.

      Liaison & Reporting:

    • Liaise with local authorities, external agencies, and regulatory inspectors.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to project leadership and corporate EHS.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of industrial safety standards and best practices.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to drive safety culture at all levels.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, risk assessment, and safety audit techniques.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical preferred).
  • Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory).
  • Minimum 812 years of relevant experience in safety management in industrial/construction projects.
  • Certifications like NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA preferred.
