Job Description

Job profiles and competency/skill requirement

The Manager New Businesses & Diversification reporting to the Head Strategic

Transformation Unit, a senior executive who in turn directly reports to Managing Director is responsible for leading new business identification and diversification by managing end-to-end

activities including market scanning, opportunity assessment, deal sourcing and deal closure besides supporting governance of functional team (commercial & business development, finance etc.) and pilot launch / scale-up planning etc.

Primary job duties/responsibilities:

i. Market scan & opportunity assessment

  • Analyze Indias energy landscape & megatrends for identification of opportunities
  • Conduct market sizing and shortlisting of opportunities basis criteria including right

to win, key success factors and materiality

  • Preparation of a detailed business case including strategic fit, relative position vis a vis

competition, management quality, capital expenditure required, potential contribution to

revenue and profit, equity IRR etc.

  • Establish best-in class risk frameworks to assess prospective transactions for financial

(valuation, liquidity etc.) and non-financial (operational, reputational etc.) risks

  • Develop and update a potential target list opportunities for investments (e.g., financial /

strategic)

ii. Deal sourcing & closure

  • Build high impact relationships with internal and external stakeholders; proactively engage

external network / industry events to drive long-term partnerships, business development

opportunities

  • Define the go-to-market strategy for the identified opportunity in the form of organic growth,

M&A, financial investment etc.

  • Identify potential partners possessing technical and commercial strength via an SPV / JV etc.

for a pilot / full-scale launch of a prioritized new business

  • Facilitate onboarding of transaction advisors for legal, technical, and financial due diligence
  • Engage with functional team members, drive investment approval from Board and lead

signing of term-sheets for prioritized businesses

iii. Support

1. Pilot-launch support and scale-up

  • Prepare a roadmap in case of pilot launch for a new business incl. prioritized geography,

onboarding of partners, detailed operating model etc.

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer with existing commercial and business development team to

scale-up identified businesses

2. Governance

  • Engage with functional team members to resolve blockers, accelerate decision making,

receive cross-functional signoffs and remove interdependencies for any new businesses

scale-up

  • Progress monitoring via implementation trackers including adherence to timelines,

measurement of KPIs etc. for new businesses

  • Preparation of presentation materials for review by senior leadership incl. Board (quarterly),

Strategic Management Group (monthly), Managing Director (fortnightly)

Eligibility criteria

i. Age:

  • Candidates above the age of 28 and below the age of 35 years as of 31 Aug 2025 are eligible

to apply

ii. Educational Qualifications:

  • Post-Graduation Masters degree preferably in business administration (M.B.A.) / finance

(M.Sc.) from top 50 institutes within the mentioned domain as per NIRF rankings

  • Graduation Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering (B.Tech. / B. Eng.) / economics

(B.Sc. Eco) / business administration (B.B.A. / B.M.S.) / finance (B.A.F.) / commerce (B.Com.)

from top 50 institutes within the mentioned domains as per NIRF rankings

OR professional qualification of Chartered Accountancy (C.A.), Company Secretary (C.S.),

Institute of Cost and Works Accountant (I.C.W.A.), Chartered Financial Analyst (C.F.A.)

iii. Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as of 31 Aug 2025 in EITHER of the following domains

preferably in the energy sector –

  • Transaction advisory / M&A experience preferably with big four consulting firms

incl. Deloitte, PwC, KPMG or EY

  • Investment banking specifically fund-raising experience (equity capital markets)

as part of a bulge bracket / middle-market / boutique bank

  • Management consulting experience related to diversification strategy for

companies operating across energy / oil & gas etc.

iv. Location:

  • Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, 400051

v. Other Requirements

  • Ability to scan the energy sector and broader market for deal sourcing
  • Experience in building an investment thesis / business cases
  • Ability to conduct in-depth risk analysis of identified investments, developing portfolio level

view of contribution to bottom-line and top-line

  • Track record of preparing detailed financial models incl. valuation of firms using

methodologies not limited to discounted cash flow, trading & transaction comparable etc.

  • Experience in influencing senior stakeholders via strong verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated history in nurturing strategic relationships with external stakeholders;

existing networks in financial markets incl. Private Equity, Venture Capital etc.
