Manager employee relations strategy

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Employee Relations strategy aligned with corporate objectives and statutory compliance.
• Lead workforce rationalization programs involving lay-offs, retrenchment, or closure, in compliance with the Industrial Disputes Act and other applicable Labor laws.
• Act as the interface with Labor authorities, local administration, and legal advisors on ER and compliance-related matters.
• Drive proactive engagement with unions or worker representatives to manage potential IR risks and ensure peaceful industrial relations.
• Prepare ER risk mitigation plans, contingency strategies, and communication protocols during factory disruption scenarios.
• Maintain updated knowledge of legal provisions, court rulings, and government notifications impacting employment and industrial relations.
• Ensure timely legal compliance and documentation for any restructuring or closure process.
• Support in factory-level HR audits, disciplinary proceedings, and managing sensitive employee grievances.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 8 to 12 years of experience in ER/IR roles within the manufacturing sector (electronics, automotive, or heavy industries preferred).
• Proven experience in managing liquidation, lay-off, retrenchment, or closure activities in a legally compliant and ethically sound manner.
• Strong understanding of Indian Labor Laws, Industrial Disputes Act, Trade Union Act, and other ER statutes.
• Experience in dealing with external stakeholders including Labor departments, consultants, and local authorities.
• Strategic mind-set with the ability to operate under high-pressure, high-sensitivity environments.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience of managing Unions (Formation & Dissolve)
