Magazine Designer

We are seeking a talented and creative Magazine Designer to join our editorial and creative team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for editorial design, a keen eye for visual storytelling, and the ability to create compelling layouts that capture the essence of each publication. As a Magazine Designer, you will be responsible for producing visually stunning magazine pages, covers, and editorial spreads that align with our brand’s identity and communicate effectively with our audience. Key Responsibilities: Design and create visually appealing magazine layouts, covers, and editorial spreads that align with the publication’s style and voice. Collaborate with editors, photographers, and writers to conceptualize and implement designs for each issue. Ensure all designs are consistent with brand guidelines and editorial standards, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across every issue. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) to create print-ready files and digital content. Make adjustments to layouts, typography, and imagery based on editorial feedback. Work with the production team to ensure the final product meets high-quality standards and is ready for print or digital distribution. Stay updated with current design trends, typography, color theory, and layout techniques in the publishing industry. Maintain accurate records of all design assets and files. Assist with the creation of promotional materials, ads, and special features for upcoming issues or digital platforms. Required Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and other design software. Strong understanding of layout principles, typography, and color theory, especially in the context of magazine design. Ability to create visually compelling editorial layouts that enhance the reader’s experience. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with editors, photographers, and other team members. A portfolio showcasing previous magazine design work is required. Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines. Experience with prepress production and preparing files for print is preferred. Motion graphics or video editing skills are a plus. Ability to adapt to changes and take constructive feedback while maintaining creative integrity. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with magazine publications or editorial teams. Understanding of the digital publishing landscape (e.g., designing for online magazines or e-publications). Familiarity with photography and photo editing is a bonus.
