Job Description – Machinist Technician

Wabtec employees at the Rohtak location operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance. The machine 1 operator role requires detail-oriented individuals with a focus on safety, who can perform high quality work in various machine operations. Our customers are reliant upon our engines to achieve a 20+ year lifespan.

Major Responsibilities:

• Move and distribute parts, materials and assemblies using cranes, jitneys and/or other MHEs.
• Operate metal removal machines, both manual and CNC machines
• Use inspection gauges
• Perform machine set-ups, grind tools, and simple related assembly work
• Inspect piece parts
• Use all related hand tools
• Perform preventative maintenance and related minor maintenance
• Must have knowledge of assembly tools, processes, gauges.
• Responsible for the quality of work performed, from prescribed methods, quality and planning instruction in oral and/or written form
• Perform all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have 3+ year of machining experience
• Diploma in Mechanical form the Polytechnic college recognized by State Technical Education Board
• Must pass background check and medically fit for the role.
• Must follow safety at all times

  Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior manufacturing experience
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
• Knowledge of basic hand tools
• Automotive or mechanical experience
• Experience in the operation of overhead cranes and safe lifting procedures
